It wasn’t long before Facebook cottoned on to the success that both Apple and Google have shared for the last few years with their dedicated app stores and they themselves are taking steps in to the ‘app arena’!
Facebook’s ambition is to help people find the ‘best’ apps which there friends are using – all through the social network. At the moment Facebook only allows you to search via the ‘search’ bar at the top of the page where you also find your friends, groups and events. In the coming weeks this will change to a dedicated app store complete with ratings, reviews and much more.
“For the over 900 million people that use Facebook, the App Center will become the new, central place to find great apps like Draw Something, Pinterest, Spotify, Battle Pirates, Viddy, and Bubble Witch Saga,” explained Facebook engineer Aaron Brady on the company blog.
Following on from the success of the Spotify integration with Facebook will we be seeing a shift in the way of which we interact and adopt apps purely based on what our friends are using?
